John Crues, M.D.
John Crues, M.D. has an extensive history in the field of Musculoskeletal MR imaging. He is currently a Medical Director for RadNet Management and also the President of ProNet Imaging Medical Group in Los Angeles, California. Dr. Crues has a keen interest in teaching and has previously directed fellowship programs at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. He currently has ongoing research projects in Orthopedic and Rheumatologic MRI. He has published over one hundred articles, twenty textbook chapters, eight textbooks in the medical literature, and one novel titled "Firestorm in Paradise."
David W. Stoller, M.D., F.A.C.R.
David W. Stoller, M.D., F.A.C.R. is a graduate of the UCLA School of Medicine and has more than 25 years of experience as a board-certified diagnostic radiologist with subspecialty expertise in musculoskeletal radiology. He is a fellow of the American College of Radiology and currently serves as National Director of Orthopaedic and Musculoskeletal Imaging for RadNet and Director of Orthopaedic and Musculoskeletal Imaging for Beverly Radiology, Northern California.
Dr. Stoller provides additional teaching as an Adjunct Professor of Radiology at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He is the Director of Current Issues of Magnetic Resonance Imaging in Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine, a national symposium course that provides radiologists and orthopaedic surgeons with advanced orthopaedic MRI education www.stollerscourse.com. Dr. Stoller also conducts a series of Comprehensive Tutorials in Musculoskeletal Imaging using an innovative checklist technique on both the East and West Coast www.stollermskcourse.com.
Dr. Stoller is the author of eight textbooks, including MRI in Orthopaedics and Rheumatology; MRI, Arthroscopy, and Surgical Anatomy of the Joints; Pocket Radiologist Orthopaedics; Diagnostic Imaging Orthopaedics; Magnetic Resonance Imaging in Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine (now in its 3rd edition); Stoller's Atlas of Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine, which have been translated in various languages. Dr. Stoller developed the Interactive Knee, Shoulder, Hip, Ankle, Foot and Wrist CDs with Primal Pictures of London. He also developed the Virtual Radiology Fellowship as a DVD online training program www.virtualradiologyfellowship.com.
Dr. Stoller served as the Musculoskeletal Radiologist for the XXV Olympic Games, Barcelona, Spain 1992. He has served on two American College of Radiology Committees, including American College of Radiology Appropriateness Criteria Expert Panel on Musculoskeletal Imaging and the Committee on Education. He reviews for the American Journal of Sports Medicine, the Journal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging and the Journal of Hand Surgery. Dr. Stoller has lectured extensively at the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons Instructional Courses and RSNA Refresher Courses including current Refresher Course on MRI of the Shoulder 2012-2014.
Gregory R. Applegate, M.D.
Dr. Gregory R. Applegate is a graduate of the Temple University School of Medicine. He completed residencies in diagnostic radiology and nuclear medicine at the University of California Irvine. Following a year-long fellowship in magnetic resonance imaging at University of Pittsburgh he joined their faculty as Assistant Professor of Radiology in the division of magnetic resonance imaging. He is also a former Associate Clinical Professor of Radiology at the University of California, San Diego
Dr Applegate serves as Radnets Medical Director for MSK Imaging for Southern California.
He has lectured extensively nationally and internationally as a recurrent invited faculty member for the American Academy of Orthopedics, the International Shoulder Congress, the Metcalf Memorial Arthroscopy course and the Napa Course - Advancements in Shoulder and Hip Arthroscopy. He has also been invited to address the ISAKOS as well as the Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society. He has published extensively on the advanced applications of magnetic resonance imaging, primarily with emphasis on musculoskeletal applications. He published a textbook with four shoulder arthroscopists entitled, "Shoulder Arthroscopy and MRI Techniques".
John Jurgutis, M.D.
John Jurgutis, M.D., retired clinical professor of orthopedic surgery USC, is the co-director of the Musculoskeletal MRI fellowship program. He is responsible for teaching the fellows the clinical significance of MRI to orthopedic practice. His perspective helps the MRI fellows integrate the critical points that orthopedists need in their practice. Dr Jugurtis has held chairmanships of various committees including Santa Monica Hospital and Orthopedic Hospital. He has done clinical and basic research in orthopedic surgery and has been published in JAMA and Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery. He has also been a team physician for many local high school and college sports teams for many years.
Robert K. Lee, MD
Dr. Robert K. Lee is a board-certified radiologist with fellowship training in musculoskeletal radiology. A graduate of the Northeast Ohio Medical University’s BS/MD program, Dr. Lee went on to pursue his radiology residency at the University Hospitals of Cleveland/Case Western Reserve where he was chief resident. Under the fellowship training of Dr. Donald Resnick at the University of California San Diego, Dr. Lee chose his core area of interest to be musculoskeletal radiology. It was during this time at UCSD, where Dr. Lee cultivated a keen interest in resident education and conference lecturing.
Dr. Lee has extensive orthopedic imaging experience at the collegiate, Olympic and professional levels, with team and university affiliations. He also has close relationships with premier orthopedic groups throughout California.
Presently serving as Medical Director, Dr. Lee continues to instruct musculoskeletal fellows with particular interest in sports imaging, as well as arthrography and therapeutic injection. His dedication to patient-centered care and fostering close collaboration with his clinical colleagues are the driving forces of Dr. Lee’s professional career.
Kevin R. Stone, M.D.
Kevin R. Stone, M.D. is an Orthopaedic surgeon at The Stone Clinic in San Francisco who specializes in sports medicine with a special interest in knee and shoulder injuries. He was educated at Harvard College and earned his M.D. at the University of North Carolina. Dr. Stone trained in Internal Medicine at Harvard's Beth Israel Hospital, General Surgery at the Stanford University Medical Center, Orthopaedic Surgery at the Harvard University Combined Orthopaedic Residency Program, a Knee Surgery and Sports Medicine Fellowship and a visiting Research Fellowship at the Hospital for Special Surgery.
He received the Albert Trillat Young Investigator's Award from the International Society of the Knee, the Cabaud Award from AOSSM, the Resident's Essay Award from AANA, and has more than 50 U.S. patents. Dr. Stone has been the principle investigator on three NIH Grants. His research focuses on ligament, meniscus, and articular cartilage replacement.
Dr. Stone is the inventor of the collagen meniscus implant (Menaflex) and co-founder of ReGen Biologics, Inc., a medical device company that produced the first collagen scaffold for meniscus regeneration; founder and principle scientist of CrossCart, Inc., a medical device company that removes the antigens from pig tissues to make pig ligaments, bone, and cartilage available for human use; and founder of Joint Juice, Inc., a producer of a glucosamine-enriched beverage.
Frank G. Shellock, Ph.D.
Frank G. Shellock, Ph.D. is a physiologist with more than 20 years of experience conducting laboratory and clinical investigations in the field of MRI. He is a Clinical Professor of Radiology and Medicine at the Keck School of Medicine, University of Southern California and the Founder of the Institute for Magnetic Resonance Safety, Education, and Research. As a commitment to the field of MRI safety, he created and maintains the internationally popular web site, www.MRIsafety.com.
Dr. Shellock has more than 200 publications and three of his medical textbooks are considered "best sellers". He is an Associate Editor for the Journal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging and a Reviewing Editor for several medical journals including Radiology, Investigative Radiology, the American Journal of Roentgenology, the Journal of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance, and the Journal of the American College of Cardiology.
Memberships in professional societies include the American College of Radiology, the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine (ISMRM), the Radiological Society of North America, and the Society for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance. He is also a member and Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the American College of Sportsmedicine. In 2004, the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine recognized the significant contributions Dr. Shellock has made to the scientific and educational mission of the ISMRM by designating him a Fellow of the Society. The American College of Radiology awarded him a Distinguished Committee Service Award for years of dedicated service to the Practice Guidelines and Technical Standards Committee – Body MRI.
Janis Fodran-Keeney RPA, RRA
Janis Fodran-Keeney RPA, RRA, is a 21-year member of the Radnet Management team. A board certified, Summa Cum Laude graduate from Weber State University Radiology Practitioner Assistant program, and also board certified as a RRA (Radiologist Assistant) by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, Janis assists Dr. Crues and staff radiologists. She specializes in MR Rheumatology imaging, and routine radiology procedures. Her prior research includes contrast enhanced MR imaging of the hands and wrists in rheumatoid arthritis patients with active erosive disease.
Rosa Orellana-Lewis has been loyally employed for Radnet Management for over 19 years. Her eagerness to learn has given her an opportunity to gain knowledge in the fields of Billing/Collections/Customer Service and Administration. She currently assists Dr. John V. Crues and his staff of radiologists in the coordination of the Fellowship Program and daily operations of the practice as required.
